“Tracy raises the bar and is the gold standard for school counselors. Throughout her career, Pressley has worked with numerous students on a range of topics, such as applying to competitive universities, providing knowledge and resources on career exploration, and handling crisis situations. Pressley has demonstrated a special passion for working with students suffering from substance abuse or addictive behaviors, most recently serving as the Coordinator of the Drug Diversion Program at LHHS and co-facilitating an Mpowrd program, a peer support group for any students with addictive behaviors.
Jaime Festa-Daigle, Assistant Principal at Lake Havasu High says of the Mpowrd program, “As a small community, we struggle with resources. Tracy was able to bring this resource into our school that empowers kids, gives them a place to grow, and teaches them leadership skills.”
Pressley will now advance to be eligible for the American School Counselor Association’s National School Counselor of the Year Award and will represent Arizona at the 2018 Counselor of the Year Reception, hosted annually in Washington D.C.
Each year, AzSCA, Inc. recognizes individuals who have positively impacted the counseling profession. The School Counselor of the Year award is given to school counselors who are running top-notch comprehensive school counseling programs at the elementary, middle, high, or post-secondary levels.
