Calvary Baptist Church was recognized at the 9/15/15 meeting of the Lake Havasu Unified governing board. Calvary recently completed a fundraising drive for our elementary schools, raising $2,426.67 for each school (a grand total of $14,560). Oro Grande principal Pat Wolfe spoke at the meeting, praising Calvary members for their efforts. In addition to fundraising, Mr. Wolfe explained how they read to students in the classrooms and allow students to read to them. They bring in food for staff members. "They smile. They laugh. They are everywhere and anywhere, and they never expect anything in return."

Also recognized at the meeting:

  • Ginny Sautner. Mrs. Sautner has been named Arizona Rural Schools Association Teacher of the Year for Mohave County.
  • Karen VanderJagt. Recognized for being named Teacher of the Year by the Arizona Republican Women's Convention.
  • Marie Timmons. Received the School Based Arizona Secondary Transition Services Award.
