LHHS has a new marquee, thanks to a generous donation

Lake Havasu High School has a new marquee, purchased with a generous donation from Jeff Guylas.

Jeff Guylas was a resident of Lake Havasu High School and a fervent supporter of Lake Havasu High School athletics. Over the years Mr. Guylas made numerous financial donations to the athletic program at Lake Havasu High School, preferring to remain anonymous when the donations were presented to the Governing Board for approval. Mr. Guylas recently passed away, unexpectedly, and, per his wishes, a trust was set aside for additional donations to high school athletics.

One of items most important to Mr. Guylas was replacement of the current marquee at Lake Havasu High School with a modern sign that could electronically display upcoming events, including athletic activities. Mr. Guylas' family worked with Mr. Burger and Mr. Becker on financing the purchase of this sign. Although the school district made the initial purchase, the total cost will be reimbursed to the district by the family through the gifts and donations fund.

The estimate provided by Summit West was $30,811.58, however the governing board approved an amount of $31,000.00 to cover incidentals. The bidding was done under an MESC contract and was been reviewed by the district's purchasing department.
